Never get caught out byroadworksagain
Add your work commute, school run, or any frequent journey and we'll let you know about roadworks before they happen.
Roadworks have gotten out of control.
No, you're not imagining it.
Every day, it feels like a new set of temporary traffic lights pops up.
And when those ones finish, another set appears a few metres down the road.
You’re forever at the mercy of inconsiderate utility companies and their latest archeological dig.
They don’t care about your big meeting, that important appointment, or little Sally getting to school on time.
They just dig up the road willy nilly and leave you, the great British commuter, to suck it up and suffer through it.
And unfortunately, this isn’t going to change anytime soon. Roadworks are as certain as death, taxes, and 50p Freddos.
But wouldn’t it be good if they gave you the heads up about roadworks before they happened?
That way, you could:
- plan ahead
- leave earlier
- choose an alternative route
- get to work on time
- avoid roadwork-related hair loss
- lead a happy, fulfilling life
Problem is, they don’t know the routes you drive, so how could they possibly know whether a set of temporary traffic lights will affect you?
Well, that’s where Roadworks Radar comes in.

Hello fellow commuter 👋
I’m Matt — the chap behind Roadworks Radar.
For years I’ve been driving to work and getting stuck behind temporary traffic lights.
(Genuinely convinced Worcester’s the capital of roadworks.)
What annoyed me wasn’t the fact they were there, but the fact no one bothered to tell me they were coming.
If I’d known beforehand, I could’ve left earlier and made it to work on time.
That’s why I created Roadworks Radar —
to give me a simple heads‑up the night before so I could get up earlier — and therefore leave earlier.
And so far, it’s working a treat!
While my colleague continues to get caught in the never‑ending roadworks on the A38, I’ve been swerving them via the A449.
It’s nice not being the late one for a change!

Frequently Asked Questions
Directly from the UK Department for Transport’s Street Manager (the official system used by councils and utility companies).
Navigation apps warn you when you’re already on the way. Roadworks Radar is for planning ahead: we watch your saved routes and warn you well in advance (and as soon as emergencies are published).
You get an evening digest with all works due to affect your routes the following day. If emergency works appear during the day, we’ll send an immediate alert.
We reflect the latest signals from Street Manager. We don’t assume a job has started or finished just because a proposed date passes — confirmations from the promoter/council drive status. Cancelled or refused permits are filtered from dashboards (with a short grace period).
We look for works on your route and just beside it. We include a small safety buffer around your saved route so we don’t miss anything important near junctions or bends.
That means you might occasionally see a nearby work that isn’t exactly on your road — we’d rather give you an early heads‑up than keep you in the dark.
Access to the dashboard, evening digests, timely alerts, and up to 3 saved routes (enough for commute + school run + another regular journey).
Yes. You can add, rename, tweak, or delete routes anytime — changes apply immediately to future alerts.
Yes. You’ll sign in first (magic link or Google), then head straight to Stripe Checkout. Billing can be managed later via the Customer Portal.
Absolutely. Manage or cancel your annual plan in the billing portal. You’ll keep access for the remainder of your paid period.
England (Street Manager coverage). We’ll add more regions when high‑quality sources are available.
We focus on A‑roads and local roads across England where day‑to‑day delays tend to bite the most. That’s where Roadworks Radar is most useful for commuters and regular drivers.
Motorways aren’t comprehensively covered as yet. This is because large motorway schemes are usually well publicised and clearly signed well in advance, so you’re unlikely to miss them — while the pain of “surprise” roadworks often happens on everyday routes.
If motorway coverage would help your journeys, let us know — we’ll expand based on demand.
Add our login and notification addresses to your contacts and mark “Not junk”. We use authenticated sending (SPF/DKIM) and follow best practices, but some providers are strict with first‑time messages.
Tomorrow morning, you could be stuck behind another set of lights…
