We listen to the Department for Transport's Street Manager service for council and utility works, and to National Highways for the strategic road network. Updates flow into our database every 15 minutes.

Why do you only show closures within 5 miles of each town?

Accepted Answer

Most people care about closures on the roads they actually use, so we focus on the immediate area. If you want broader coverage, plot a route alert and we will track works along the entire path you drive.

How do I get notified when a new closure appears?

Accepted Answer

Plot a route on Roadworks Radar and we will email you the moment a new closure or major roadwork is added on or near it. There is no app to install.

Question 4

Are emergency closures included?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as soon as the promoter logs them in Street Manager. Some emergency works appear with very little notice, which is why a route alert is the most reliable way to hear about them.

Question 5

Why are some closures missing?

Accepted Answer

A closure that was already in place before our dataset began collecting may not appear, and a small number of works are submitted late or with incomplete data. Your local council remains the authority on long-standing closures.
